October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Shame, stigma, and fear can keep many people suffering from abuse. The truth is that domestic abuse affects 1 in every 3 women in the United States alone.
Not all abuse is physical, but all forms of abuse are serious. Abuse can be emotional, psychological, financial, abandonment, etc.
How can you help?
If you have a loved one who is experiencing abuse it is important to listen to them & believe them. Encourage them to seek professional help but do not pressure them into any decisions.
