Tom Swift was a popular book character who was creative inventor, similar to what we may know today as MacGyver. In 1911, Tom’s adventure took him to Africa where he invented the Electric Rifle to help his friends. Little did Tom, or his creator Victor Appleton, know, a fan would one day invent a similar device that would help women all over the world stay safe.
Jack Cover was a NASA researcher who enjoyed the Tom Swift books greatly – so much so, that he created the first stun gun. This device worked using gunpowder and barbs along with an electric current to bring down assailants. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms quickly classified the device as a firearm in 1976. Of course, as research progressed and newer, safer models were released, some states recognized the new non-lethal stun device as a great option for self defense and slowly since 2009, states have been legalizing stun devices with and without added licenses. Damsel in Defense has been altering and researching stun devices since our beginning and finally found a fan favorite in the Little Ringer, which was released at the January 2019 Leadership Event.
Our Marketing Coordinator extraordinaire, Becca, is a hard working and loyal friend who enjoys playing soccer, reading, and cuddling with her bunny Hazel. She has been with us since April 2020 and her job includes designing new images for the marketing team, pulling data to share with the team, and being featured in many of our styled shoots. Her favorite parts of her job, however, consist of tapping into her creative side, the people she works with, and the connections she has made with our Damsel Safety Educators. Becca’s quick wit and planner personality helps make the office run on a smooth schedule while additionally cultivating a fun, lighthearted environment when it is needed!
Becca’s favorite product on our line is the Little Ringer, which she loves to bundle with other products as well. A true Type A personality, she revels in the comfort of having a Plan A, B, and C of which the Little Ringer is the main component. The disable pin feature of the device is the favorite feature of her fiance, Josh, as he appreciates knowing that an attacker would be unable to use it against her should it be taken from her hand in an altercation.
The Little Ringer is a stun device measuring at 1.3 microcoulombs and is keychain adaptable – perfect for layering protection! It is compact and has an ergonomic grip for the best hold possible. Unique grab guarding stunning probes ensure that the electric connection is solid and strong and the easy to read battery indicator allows you to know when the device needs a quick charge before your next outing!
